Opening and Closing times

The Southwater Junior Academy is open for pupils at 8.40 am and closes at 3.20 pm, equating to 33 hours and 20 mins per week.

Typical timetable for the school day:

At SJA, we open our gates promptly at 8.40 am in order to get the children into their classrooms quickly and efficiently and ready to learn. Lessons then proceed until morning break.

The upper school (Years 5 and 6) morning break time is at 10.20 am until 10.35 am.

The lower school (Years 3 and 4) break time is 10.40 am until 10.55 am.

Lessons are held until the lunch break, which is at 12.00 pm until 12:55 pm. During this time, children have time to eat lunch and have an outdoor break before the afternoon session. 

The afternoon teaching session runs from 12:55 pm until 3:20 pm.
