Pupil Premium

Pupil premium is additional funding given to schools that aim to contribute towards closing the attainment gaps for disadvantaged pupils and to assist with the pastoral needs of children with parents in the armed forces and 'looked after' children.

Is my child eligible?
Children are entitled to Free School Meals if your family is in receipt of any of the following:

  • Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods)
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of state Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit

You can apply online via the West Sussex website at: https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/education-children-and-families/schools-and-colleges/free-school-meals/#how-to-apply

In addition to the provision of meals, eligibility will trigger funding that can be used to support your child within school in a number of ways, including a uniform allowance and costs for school trips and activities. In addition, children who are deemed to be eligible will continue to receive this funding until they finish the phase of schooling that they are in.

If you would like any support with the process, please do not hesitate to contact the school office in confidence.
