'Sing Up' Platinum Award
Southwater Juniors has been recognised and accredited as a 'Platinum Singing School' as part of The National Sing Up Awards. Out of the 20,230 schools in England, Southwater Juniors is one of only 80 schools to have achieved this prestigious Platinum Award putting it in the top 0.3% of schools in the country - this is due to our outstanding dedication to music and singing.
'Dyslexia Friendly School' Award
Following a thorough and rigorous assessment we have achieved the Dyslexia Friendly School award for our work to identify and support children with dyslexia.
Eco Schools Award
Following much hard work by pupils, parents and teachers alike, we have now been awarded the prestigeous Eco Schools GREEN FLAG award. Many recycling projects are now firmly embedded within the daily life of the school and include the recycling of all paper, plastics, ink cartridges, florescent tubes and fruit waste - which is enthusiastically composted in our own 'compost corner'.
Investors in Health Award
Following a year of detailed assessment for pupils and staff, we have been granted an Investors in Health' award, for our awareness and the implementation of initiatives to ensure the health and wellbeing of everyone in the school - ranging from the 'Playground Buddies' team who ensure that all children are happy during their breaks to the daily provision of fresh fruit and milk. We have also now been awarded National Healthy School status!
Travel Mark Award
After much hard work, we were, this year, accredited with the Level Three, Travel Mark Award. The Travel Mark Award is awarded to schools that show a strong commitment to school travel issues.The Travel Mark Award Scheme aims to encourage schools to actively promote sustainable travel to and from school, improve road safety awareness and raise awareness of the impact of transport on environmental and personal health.
Unicef RRR Award
We have been recognised by UNICEF as being an Academy that recognises and promotes RRR (Rights, Respect and Responsibilities) of pupils, developing pupils' skills in understanding the rights they are afforded under the United Nations Convention of the Rights of a Child. As a school we grasp all opportunities to develop children's understanding of the global community that they are a part of.
Physical Education & Sport Award
We are working towards Artsmark. Awarded by Arts Council England, designed by schools,the new Artsmark award will help schools deliver a high quality arts and cultural education and provide an excellent way to demonstrate this.
