With the combination of housing growth and demographic changes, we propose to amend our admissions policy to prioritise on supporting local children attending their local school. As such, the proposal agreed by the Trustee body, will prioritise the selection criteria on those children living in the SJA catchment area over children attending Southwater Infant Academy.
Whilst this may seem counter to our previous admissions policy, it focuses places for local children who live in the local area. Of course, this policy is only acted upon in the event that a year group number goes above 120.
The DfE School Admissions Code requires all admissions authorities to consult on their admission arrangements whenever there is a significant change proposed. Our proposed admissions policy for the academic year of 2018/19 has therefore been updated in line with the above and is now available to view here. The consultation period will last for six weeks until Wednesday 11th January 2017. Any comments on our proposed admissions policy 2018/19 should be sent in writing to Mrs Nicky Wright via email: firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to: The Southwater Junior Academy, Worthing Road, Southwater, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 9JH.
