It’s been another fabulous half term at SJA and one of the highlights for me has certainly been year 6 at the O2. if you were lucky enough to have attended this year (or have been in the past), you will know what an amazing showcase this is of children singing together as part of one of the world’s biggest choirs.

It was lovely to welcome so many parents to the recent curriculum meetings where year teams introduced themselves to parents/carers and explained what the academic year of 2018-19 has in store for their children.

Dear Parents, In this, my final letter, I would like to thank you all for the support that you offer to SJA in so many guises. The academy would not be anywhere near as successful if it wasn’t for that unique relationship between the child, the parent and the teacher.

Things never stand still in a school. Since my last newsletter, Mrs Toogood has been appointed as my successor. We are working together to ensure that the hand over is a seamless as possible. Mrs Toogood has already been into school twice and will be visiting on a regular basis up until the end of the term.

Thank you to all the parents who filled out the annual parental questionnaire. I am delighted to say that the results remain overwhelmingly positive. As I have said for the previous two years, it is really encouraging to read so many positive expressions of how your children are thriving in the supportive learning environment that we aim to create at SJA. Thank you so much for continuing to work with us while we endeavour to create the best learning experience for your child.

Since the last newsletter we have had Victorians visiting Preston Manor, Young Voices at the O2 Arena,
Y5 flying to Ghana, children dressing up as book characters and dressing potatoes as book characters –
and of course the snow! It was a relief not to have to shut the school but unfortunately there was some
disruption with having to reschedule the Parents’ Evenings.

It was good to see so many of you at the PTFA Fireworks. The weather could almost be described as balmy. We are still awaiting a final result for how much was raised. This is money which goes towards buying those extra things which the school budget would not necessarily stretch to. We extend our grateful thanks to the organisers, and to those who helped on the night.
