Parent Forum

As an academy we genuinely wish to seek, and take account of parents’ views and involve you as much as possible in the life and work of the school. Research has shown that children behave better and achieve more when their parents are involved in their education. Concerns can be resolved more quickly when parents have a good relationship with the school.
The Board of Trustees have a very specific strategic role to play in the running of the school and have both legal and statutory responsibilities. Generally, the day to day leadership and management of the school is the responsibility of the Headteacher and other senior leaders employed by the school.
We feel that it is important that parents have a forum where they can express their views, know that they can make a difference, and learn more about how the school operates.
The parent forum will discuss general matters, including the outcomes of any parental feedback, for example the parent questionnaire but will not be a forum to discuss individual instances/events and we would not name individual pupils, teachers, members of staff or parents. Parents have the opportunity of forwarding any questions to the headteacher prior to the meeting, or may bring up them up at the meeting.
The forum runs each term, alternating between a morning and an evening meeting. If you would like to attend please contact the school office. The meeting is informal, relaxed and attendees say it is very interesting!
Recent discussions and presentations have included assessment without levels, the updated curriculum, homework, sport, parking, hot meals and computing.
