Transition

Comments

"Our child has settled in well and we found the transition well organised and less stressful."

"Enjoyable and seamless."

"The transition from Y2 to Y3 has been a very smooth one and I’m happy to have been informed about the process all the way through."

"Our child has relished going into Y3. He is very enthusiastic about school and loves it."

"Excellent transition, our child had no concerns whatsoever regarding the move from Infants to Juniors due to all the hard work from the Infants and Junior staff. "

"Perfect."

"Our child seems to be happy and has commented ‘Why are the weeks going so quickly now?’ Whilst the leap from Infants to Juniors is a large one in terms of responsibility, independence and self- organisation, the children have been prepared well to enable them to be successful at this and rise to the challenge."

"VERY happy with the transition. Our child was anxious about starting’ Big school’ however the transition was done in such a brilliant way that any nerves she originally had were expelled before she started year 3."

Transition to Junior School

Southwater Infant and Junior Academies work extremely hard to ensure the smooth transition of Y2 pupils into the Y3.

During the Summer Term Y3 teachers spend time in Y2 classrooms, liaise with the Y2 teachers and Y2 visit the juniors on a number of occasion.

We plan a joint project which starts in the Summer Term of Y2 and continues in the Autumn Term in Y3. Y2 pupils also join the juniors during lunchtime playtimes.

We also hold a meeting for parents where there is a chance to meet the Y3 team and we talk through routines etc.

There is also the opportunity for parents to look around the junior school again.

In the Autumn Term parents are invited into their child’s classroom to see the class in action. Below are parental comments from these visits.
